Anytime I see an opportunity to witness, I seek to be faithful to duty (Mt. 28:19-20; Col 1:28; Ezek. 33:1-9, Etc.) After the 2nd time of running into door-to-door Mormon Evangelists, and not being properly prepared to fulfill this duty, I determined to do my due diligence to make sure that would never be the case again. And so, the following is the fruit of my Labors in Christ to get to Mormons the True Gospel, and expose to them the heresies of their religion, and prove that Joseph Smith was a false prophet, and therefore, finally, to also warn them against perpetuating his religion:

I believe the first thing that’s necessary is to establish the Word of God as the standard and touchstone of true religion (As according to the Mormons website, they reject infallibility of the Bible: “Latter-day Saints revere the Bible. They study it and believe it to be the word of God. However, they do not believe the Bible, as it is currently available, is without error.”):

God’s Promise to Preserve His Word

Q1:Do you believe God is sovereign, or in other words omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent, in control of all variables?

Q2:Do you believe God who commands to be worshipped in Spirit and truth (Jn. 4:24) is able to preserve a people and His teachings throughout the ages?

Q3:But did you know God actually promised to Preserve His Word?

“The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.“–Ps. 12:6-7

“All scripture is given by inspiration [(Strong’s G2315, “theopneustos: God-breathed”)] of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness“–2 Tim. 3:16

Jesus is the Word, the Word is Jesus, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.“ And Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them…ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.“–Jn. 1:1, 14, 10, 3; Jn. 5:39

God also warns about the adding of additional prophets, books, or scriptures, so-called personal revelations, etc. subsequent to those inspired by Him of the 1st century of Jesus’ Personal Disciples

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.“–Rev. 22:18-19

“If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed“–2 Jn. 1:10 (In other words if they come not having the doctrine of the Apostles (as recorded in their epistles), which were based on the Old Testament, they’re not of God)

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.“–Mt. 24:24-27

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies…“–2 Pet. 2:1

How the Bible defines and teaches to Regard False Prophets

“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not [turn to nor assemble with] him. Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet…Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death“–Deut. 18:20-22; 13:3-5

Proof Joseph Smith was a False Prophet

“In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.“–2 Cor. 13:1
Two False Prophecies of Joseph Smith:
“Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation, which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased. For verily this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house”-Joseph Smith, 1831, Doctrine and Covenants 84:3-5. (In 1838 Joseph Smith organized an army and marched toward Independence, Missouri, to “redeem Zion” which ended instead in a humiliating surrender to the Missouri militia)
“…and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which [is] nigh—even fifty-six years should wind up the scene”-History of the Church, Ch. 13 The Lectures on Faith–Twelve Apostles Chosen and Ordained, Pg.956, by Brigham Henry Roberts (Mormon Leader), 1902. Obviously the world did not end nor the second coming take place in 1958.

God’s Warning and Condemnation for False Teachers

“My brethren, be not many masters [(Strong’s G1320, “didaskalos: Instructor, teacher”)], knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.“–Js. 3:1; Gal. 1:8

How to Tell a True Prophet, “Latter-Day Saint”

“To the law [(Strong’s H8451, “Torah, the Decalogue or Pentateuch (the Old Testament”))] and to the testimony [(Ten Commandments, Ex. 39:35)]: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.“–Is. 8:20

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples…If ye love me, keep my commandments. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.“–Rev. 14:12; Jn. 8:31; Jn. 14:15; Rev. 19:10

Q1: Are Making the Bible (and it alone) which testifies of Christ and contains His Word your standard of Faith?
Q2: Are you keeping the 10 commandments of God?
Q3: How about the 7th day Saturday-Sabbath of the 4th Commandment?
Q4: The Book of Revelation is filled with prophecies leading to the end of the World. Many of these are elaborations on Old Testament prophecies. Are you able to exposit, interpret and explain the meaning of these prophecies? The key players and events mentioned have historical fulfillment and are yet extant today, and the final events now taking place.

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, then according to the Bible, you have great reason to doubt whether you indeed be a “latter day saint”!
