Thoughts on Marriage

The following is the contents of a wedding card I had penned for the occasion of my step brother’s Marriage:

Dear Nik and Ashley,

I want to congratulate you on having officially ‘tied the knot’. Marriage is a union instituted in the beginning by the God whom the Bible defines as “love” (Genesis 2:24; 1 John 4:16). Marriage is a portrait of the reunion of disgraced man with his God (Ephesians 5:21-33; Rev. 19:7-9), and the vows thereof represent the pinnacle of human experience and life’s meaning. Never forget that marriage is a commitment. I encourage you both to commit it to God (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) and to reflect often on your vows. For in so doing, you shall ensure that the two of you shall rise together above all the perplexities which life inevitably engenders. Will be keeping you guys in prayer and am always here for you in any way that I can be.
